  Discontinuation of the VIP2 Premier Policy and LifeStage Advantage Cash Benefit Rider

   

  Over the past year, we have been implementing a new rate basis on our VIP2 and LifeStage Advantage Policies, to bring our pricing in line with our actuarial assumptions. As a leader in the Long Term Care Insurance (LTCI) industry, it is important that we remain committed to reviewing our products to ensure they allow for the stability of the overall business.

In keeping with this, we have evaluated the risk that the cash benefit presents and believe it does not align with our philosophy of providing coverage for a long-term care event. We have given this very careful consideration and believe that discontinuing the VIP2 Premier Policy and the LifeStage Advantage Cash Benefit Rider is the right decision for our business. There are a variety of other rich features still available, and as a leader in the long-term care insurance marketplace, we remain committed to offering solutions to help fund people's long-term care needs.

Please note the following regarding to the discontinuation of these cash benefit features:

Applications

• Individual and Multi-Life applications requesting the VIP2 Premier Policy or LifeStage Advantage Cash Benefit Rider must be signed and dated by May 2 and received by MetLife LTC no later than May 10:

• The eNewBusiness Data Collection system is being updated and will not offer the VIP2 Premier Policy and LifeStage Advantage Cash Benefit Rider as options effective May 1.
• If applications requesting these options are signed and/or received after these dates, you will be contacted for alternate selections, which will delay the processing of the applications.
• All Individual and Multi-Life applications (including tele-apps) and outlines of Coverage have been updated and can be ordered from the fulfillment center beginning April 26. They will be available for download on eForms beginning May 3. Order numbers will remain the same.

Sales Support Tools Updates
Printed Marketing Materials

• Materials that specifically promote the Premier Policy, such as sell sheets or sales ideas, will no longer be available as of April 30.
• Other materials will be updated as they expire to reflect the discontinuation of the VIP2 Premier Policy and LifeStage Advantage Cash Benefit Rider. Reminder notices are being provided with materials that reference either of these options.

MetWins Illustration System

• The VIP2 Premier Policy and LifeStage Advantage Cash Benefit Rider will be removed for both individual and Multi-Life illustrations effective April 30.
• Saved MetWins Illustrations that include either the VIP2 Premier Policy or the LifeStage Cash Benefit Rider will be automatically adjusted.

Websites

• References to the VIP2 Premier Policy and LifeStage Cash Benefit Rider will be removed from all LTC websites on May 27.

California launches the new rate basis for VIP2 and California Partnership

Last date for current rate basis:

Applications must be dated and signed by May 2 and received at MetLife LTC by May 10 in order for the current rate basis to be applied. Any CA VIP2 or CA Partnership applications signed and/or received after these dates will have the new rate basis applied to them.

Illustrations and Applications

• MetWINS and Foresight will be updated to provide illustrations with the new rate basis on April 30.
• VIP2 applications will remain the same. The new VIP2 applications will launch at a later date.

• The CA Partnership Multi-Life Employee website will be available on May 27.
