An annuity contract that guarantees fixed payments, either for life or for a specified period of time to an annuitant. Growth of principal and interest is free from taxes until withdrawn on a deferred basis. Principal in a fixed annuity is guaranteed and not subject to market fluctuations. It cannot decline in value.
